ENVIRONMENTAL
CONSULTING

We provide design and environmental consulting services for controlled waste disposal plants, contaminated site remediation and the industry.

We provide advice and assistance on:

Engineering services in the environmental field Geology and hydrogeology

Valuations, estimates and economic/ environmental appraisals

  • Preparation of authorisation files for emissions
  • Wastewater and waste
  • Environmental due diligence
  • Characterisation plans on potentially polluted sites
  • Risk analyses and related remediation projects
  • Design of waste and wastewater treatment plants

We have advanced skills in the dispersion modelling of pollutant from industrial activities, as well as in the development of site-specific models for contaminants transport in the aquifer.

AIR

We offer comprehensive services for regular and/ or specific indoor/outdoor air quality monitoring, using state-of-the-art field and analyical instrumentation. We also offer specialist technical support in the design of systems to reduce atmospheric emissions.

WATER

The expertise we have acquired in the water sector lets us address all problems related to civil and industrial wastewater treatment, decontamination/remediation treatments and groundwater monitoring.

We do this through a wide range of services and solutions: from feasibility studies to design, from supervision to on-site technical support, from implementation to plant start-up, through BATs and patents owned by us or our international partners.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATIONS (EPD)

Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) aim to provide relevant, verified and comparable information on the environmental impacts of a product or service, generated throughout its life cycle.

They are a type III environmental label based on the LCA methodology and on rules laid down per product type (PCR) and in accordance with the regulations of the Programme Operator. For construction products, the regulatory reference UNI EN 15804 also applies.

Framework PCRs:

  • specify the indicators to be reported, the information to be provided and the manner in which it is collected and reported;
  • describe which life cycle stages are considered in the environmental product declaration (EPD) and which processes are to be included;
  • lay down the rules for the development of evaluation scenarios;
  • include the rules for inventory calculation and impact assessment in life cycle analysis, which form the basis of the EPD, including the specifications to be applied on data quality;
  • include, when necessary, rules for reporting predefined environmental and health-related information that is not contained in the product’s, process’s and service’s life cycle assessment (LCA);
  • specify the conditions under which construction products can be compared on the basis of the information contained in the EPD.

EPDs contain verifiable, accurate and non- misleading environmental information on products and their application. In this way, they support sound, science-based choices and stimulate potential progressive market-driven environmental improvement.
The guarantee of the correctness of the data declared by the company is certified by a third party.

LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT (LCA) STUDY

Life Cycle Assessment is an international methodology standardised by UNI ISO 14040 and 14044, which makes it possible to assess the environmental impacts that can potentially be generated during the production, use and final disposal stages of new products or services (defined as “cradle to grave”).

Conducting a standardised LCA study involves the following steps:

1. seDng the system boundaries and data collection methodology;

2. compiling the inventory of the production processes;

3. identifying sources from databases and scientific publications;

4. LCA modelling in calculation soÜware in collaboration with the University of Basilicata;

5. assessing the potential environmental impacts (global warming potential, acidification, eutrophication, photochemical smog formation, resource consumption, etc.);

6. interpreting the results, performing sensitivity analysis as the main parameters change and comparing the results obtained, identifying the main areas for improvement;

7. preparing the LCA report in accordance with ISO 14040-44.

PRODUCT CARBON FOOTPRINT (PCF)

The Product Carbon Footprint makes it possible to quantify product GHG emissions in accordance with ISO 14067, in order to implement Carbon

Management policies and promote products with lower CO2 equivalent emissions.

The working methodology for calculating the Carbon Footprint of a product or service is based on the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) methodology, i.e. on the principle of considering all stages of a product’s life cycle.
With the introduction of the PCF Systematic Approach, the organisation can develop a set of procedures to facilitate the development of PCFs for multiple products.
